The Bodrum Cup brings sailing enthusiasts together again in its 29th year

 

Turkey’s most famous sailing race, The Bodrum Cup will take place from October 16 to October 21 in its 29th year. Sailors will compete in the categories of gulet, tirhandil, cruiser and catamaran for six days. In addition to sailing races; there will be lots of fun activities on land and at sea and The Cup will end with surprise concerts. This year, 150 yachts and 1,500 sailors are expected to join the Cup, which brings together thousands of sailing and sea enthusiasts every year.

 

 

Contributing to the promotion of both Bodrum – the popular Aegean holiday destination – and Turkey, The Bodrum Cup will be held on October 16-21, 2017. Started by ERA Bodrum Sailing Club, The Bodrum Cup became a tradition over the years. This year The Bodrum Cup is going to offer unforgettable days for the 29th time for thousands of local and foreign sea and sailing lovers. The Bodrum Cup will start from Bodrum and will include five stages including Yalıkavak and Gökova coves. The Bodrum Cup will be launched on October 16 with a Campane ceremony in a festive atmosphere with fun events held on land and at sea along with the sailing races. The Bodrum Cup is set off from other races of its kind by letting guests sail on racing yachts. Races at The Bodrum Cup will be in gulet, tirhandil, cruiser and catamaran categories.

 

Fierce competition- unforgettable friendships

Sailors will go head to head and compete to have the first place in one of Turkey’s most prestigious races, which sailing enthusiasts look forward to every year. The Cup also serves as a first step in long-lasting friendships for those who share the same passion and excitement on the sea. The institutions that support The Bodrum Cup this year include Muğla Metropolitan Municipality, Bodrum Municipality, IMEAK Chamber of Shipping, Bodrum Chamber of Commerce, Bodrum Mariners Association, TURSAB and TYF. Along with 150 yachts and 1,500 sailors; 5000 sailing enthusiasts are expected to participate in The Bodrum Cup this year.

 

Future races to expand to the Mediterranean

The Bodrum Cup, which contributes to the consciousness of the protection of the seas and the coves, stands out as an annual activity that both Bodrum and Turkey are proud of. The atmosphere is competitive yet friendly, and the festival serves the marine industry to develop and gives younger generations an opportunity to learn about sailing. It also generates international awareness of the region’s yacht production technology. The Bodrum Cup, which has changed the perception of “sunshine tourism” to “sunshine and wind tourism”, has serious goals for the future, including initiatives to launch more yacht charters from abroad and expanding The Bodrum Cup to different routes, especially to the Mediterranean.

 

A race in the form of a festival: The Bodrum Cup

The Bodrum Cup stands out as an international festival with many events organized on land and at sea, as well as races in an adrenaline-laden atmosphere. The event, which hosted famous singers like Sertab Erener, Nilüfer, Fatma Turgut, İlhan Şeşen, Ayhan Sicimoğlu & Latin All Stars in previous years, will start on October 16 with Campane ceremony. Attendants will have unforgettable moments with fun events such as The Bodrum Cup Square Activities, Acoustic City Concerts, Blue Cruise Cooking Competition and #instabodrumcup Photography Competition. The Bodrum Cup will end with a final concert after the award ceremony.
